Colonial Williamsburg: Crafts Past

I recently took a trip to Colonial Williamsburg and learned an abundance about the history of the colonies, but also the crafts of the colonies, which was awesome! I'm really interested in the history of crafts and the evolution of techniques. There was some cool info I found out by listening to the craftsmen I wanted to share with you.

Clockwise, starting with top left: A shot from the tinsmith shop. A tinsmith would use a heated copper head on the end of a iron tong as a soldering iron (heated in the that little oven!). Upper right: Spinning linen! It would take several months to weave a bolt of fabric, hence why people had so few clothes. Lower right: Glass blowing... was really awesome! Lower left: A treadle lathe prior to electric!
